i.m. Rita Pankhurst
We were very sad to hear of the death of Rita Pankhurst, widow of Sylvia Pankhurst’s son Richard, at the age of 92. Rita, together with Richard, was enormously helpful and encouraging to Lynx Theatre and Poetry when we were planning Sylvia back in 1987. Rita was particularly helpful, as Head of the Library Services at the City of London Polytechnic, in showing us sources of information about Sylvia Pankhurst. Before leaving for Ethiopia in 1987, Rita asked William Alderson a

Crossing the border
We had a lovely audience for our first visit to Scotland with Sylvia on Thursday 8 March. With snow drifting waist-high the previous weekend, we arrived to find we had a trial by flood water before we crossed the border, but there were no unexpected dips or pot holes, so we did get through without any real problem. The countryside was beautiful – woods and hills high-lighted by the melting snow. Part of the journey we will do again, as we are performing at Wooler on 9 March,

Good News!
On the eve of the 2018 Sylvia tour, we have had lots of really good news! At Stoke-on-Trent, Thomas Hammersley came along to the “packed” performance at the impressive Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and posted a story on the StaffsLive website. He also included this picture of the new ‘old’ look in performance. Gone is Jackie’s curly red hair and jolly clothing, and here is the formal suit and short grey h

Starting again!
We had been delighted to get a New Year message from Richard and Rita Pankhurst saying: ‘Great news about the Sylvia tour’, and we look forward to living up to their hopes. We certainly think it is great news to be touring again too! At the same time, we were very saddened to hear of Richard's recent death, and we have added a statement about this on our Home page. We have also decided that the performances on this spring tour of SYLVIA will be dedicated to him. We are giving
